India announced plans in January 2003 to clone Iranian Asiatic cheetahs, a species that is now extinct in India and has only about 50 cheetahs left in Iran. According to scientists at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology in Hyberabad, the cloned cheetah cubs will be carried by surrogate leopard mothers. The clones will be pure cheetahs, not leopard-cheetah hybrids. The fact that their mitochondrial DNA is most likely from a leopard egg cell does not qualify them as hybrids.
TaniDaReal is the name of one of my characters (or briefly Tani). She was created by me in 1999. (in the beginning she was a grey European lioness, in 2002 I changed her into a snow leopard, in 2007 she became the hybrid but the basic design always remained the same). Prior to 2003, she was known as VitaniDaReal, after a character from The Lion King. The DaReal doesn't really have a meaning; it's just an artistic nickname I've adopted. TaniDaReal is my artistic alias as well as an officially registered pseudonym.

Colonel Ferari recalls Colonel Mundy's rare feline, who has a cold. Colonel Francis Ferari arrived in Baltimore late last night for a brief visit with Colonel Mundy of the Zoo and many other friends here. Colonel Ferari, in addition to being one of America's most popular showmen, is best remembered by visitors to the Jamestown Exposition who witnessed his superb animal show. Colonel Mundy was presented with a 1-year-old bihybrid of the feline species brought by the Colonel. According to reports, this is the only animal of its kind in captivity. Colonel Mundy believes it has already contracted a serious cold as a result of the abrupt changes in weather. A hybrid is the offspring of a leopard and a tiger or jaguar, and a bihybrid is the offspring of a hybrid and a leopard, tiger, or jaguar. A WILD BEAST CHEWED ME UP.
