Satoru and Suguru were both regarded "the strongest" as students, capable of dispatching seasoned and powerful curse users. Satoru's talents dramatically improved after recognizing and mastering his abilities, to the point that he was able to put Toji Fushiguro on the defense and eventually kill him with his best technique, when previously he and Geto were no match for the legendary Sorcerer Killer. As he became stronger, he surpassed Suguru's strength to the point that Suguru realized Satoru had actually become the strongest on his own. Suguru also declared that Satoru was capable of murdering all of mankind by himself, something Suguru recognized was beyond his own capabilities, and didn't even bother to fight back as Satoru planned to kill him, however Satoru eventually surrendered since he was unwilling to kill his old buddy.
He repeats this in the present tense despite the fact that Geto is already deceased and they had parted ways many years earlier, demonstrating how much Gojo loves him despite all that had transpired.
It's a moving sequence in both the film and the comics, and it's one of the few times Satoru Gojo reveals his actual self.
