Your Discord profile picture (or Discord avatar) is completely customizable, but there are some guidelines you should follow before making changes.
The image you upload has no size restrictions, but the image that Discord displays as your avatar is limited to 128 128 pixels. If you upload a larger image, you will need to crop or resize it to fit using Discord's built-in image editor.
Adjust the color or contrast of your PFP by adding an overlay. Using the Text and Images tools, you can add text, stickers, GIFs, or overlays. These are especially useful if you want your PFP avatar to join a movement such as Black Lives Matter, Pride, or a political campaign, or to show solidarity with a worthy cause. In the example below, I used Image Search to find a "Pride overlay" with rainbow stripes and then adjusted the opacity with the "Adjust" tool.
