Under terms of the future, Damon Albarn has stated that a feature-length Gorillaz film is now in development at Netflix.
During an interview with Apple Music about his new solo album, âThe Nearer The Fountain, The Purer The Stream Flows,âAlbarn said, âIâm at Netflix because weâre creating a full-length Gorillaz film with Netflix.â It's a lot of fun to do that. It's something we've wanted to accomplish for a very long time. This Gorillaz creating a movie has gone through so many permutations. Honestly. But, obviously, I can't say anything further about it becauseâ No, no, no.â
Gorillaz Artist Jamie Hewlett
Jamie Hewlett, co-founder of the legendary cartoon band Gorillaz, has announced the band's return. The good news, however, came through Instagram, todayâs social platform of choice for promoting creative ability. Hewlett stunned fans by subsequently remarking, âYes. Gorillaz Returns,â after uploading a new drawing of Murdoc, Gorillazâs bassist (a photo that is only available via the mobile app). Hewlett also posted two more drawings of Murdoc and guitarist Noodles, perhaps implying the publication of an art book. Hewlett recently said that he was considering creating a special compilation art book of his âfavorite stuff,â a project that has yet to see the light of day. Check out the artwork in the gallery below, and let us know in the comments whether you think the Gorillaz will be able to take up where they left off. Hewlett also worked with Albarn on artwork for the Chinese modern opera Monkey: Journey to the West. His figures were later included in the BBC's Olympic Games animation from 2008. Hewlettâs art appeared on the walls of Londonâs Saatchi Gallery in 2015 for The Suggestionists show, which included an eclectic mix of paintings for tarot cards, film posters for fictitious 1970s exploitation films, and pictures of pine trees.

âGorillaz have always cooperated with music, but this is our first time doing an art collaboration,â Hewlett said in a statement. âI've had a great time collaborating with so many of my favorite artists, and the outcome is this incredible book.â âWhile many of the collaborating artists will be recognizable to comic book aficionados, one in particular is Del the Funky Homosapien, who previously participated on the groupâs hit âClint Eastwood.â
